A named industry establishes context, not the required cutting operation. For a BTA application, begin with the feature that the route must create and the condition of the incoming blank.
Bore creation and internal profiling are different tasks
UNISIG’s aerospace discussion describes drilling and related operations, including bottom forming and internal contouring. It also describes landing-gear forgings with extended arms or lugs that affect the fixture and machine envelope. Those are manufacturer application descriptions, not one common bore geometry.
An enquiry for a constant bore and an enquiry for a larger internal contour can share a component family while requiring different operations. Show the incoming and delivered sections rather than identifying both only as “aerospace drilling.” If a later operation depends on an existing opening, include the operation that makes it.
The blank belongs in the machine-layout review
A listed bore length does not describe every projecting feature of a forging. Preserve the supplied-part shape, datum scheme and proposed orientation alongside the tool train. Where a setup changes, retain which features are produced in each position.
This distinction also changes how an application claim is assessed. A machine-family description can identify an offered route. A named supplier case can report a specific application. Neither by itself establishes the inspected result for a different component on an apparently similar machine.
Connect the feature to its delivery evidence
Define the bore characteristics independently: size, datum-related geometry, surface texture and any internal form. Identify the inspection coverage needed for each. A photograph of a finished external component does not reveal all of its internal acceptance evidence.
Use the RFQ worksheet to collect the supplied blank, feature and delivery requirements. Continue to BTA-machine tooling for the operation distinctions or bore-quality planning for the inspected endpoint. Actual application results can be added when their conditions and publication permission are available.
