A BTA speed or feed value is incomplete without its source row, diameter column and tool family. Keep that identity before converting the setting into machine units.
One checked catalogue cell
Page 17 of botek’s V38 BTA catalogue lists its Type 12/64 guide values. In the austenitic-steel row, the 28.70–39.99 mm diameter column gives feed 0.08–0.12 mm/rev, with cutting speed 60–80 m/min. The page calls these guide values and notes application-dependent correction. This is the named catalogue example, not a recommendation for every stainless grade or head.
Do not combine a feed from that column with a material row or head family from another table. A copied spreadsheet should retain the designation, source version, material condition and units with the values.
Convert one selected example explicitly
For a unit demonstration, select D=30 mm, vc=60 m/min and fn=0.08 mm/rev from the example’s scope. Sandvik Coromant’s metric formula reference defines:
1n = 1000 × vc / (π × D)
2 = 1000 × 60 / (π × 30) = 636.62 rev/min
3vf = fn × n = 0.08 × 636.62 = 50.93 mm/min
The calculation reproduces units. It does not select the installed tool’s operating point, coolant delivery or entry sequence.
Keep fluid readings separate from cutting conversions
Record pressure and flow with their actual measurement points and operating state. Correct rpm arithmetic cannot establish the delivery condition at the head, and a pump reading does not reconstruct every circuit point.
Use the conversion tool below with the three example inputs, then retain the actual supplier-approved inputs for a job. Continue to coolant-system investigation for measurement boundaries or bore-quality planning for the endpoint used to assess a parameter trial.
