Removing the need for a BTA-style workpiece seal does not remove the need to guide the head or define the complete installation. This distinction matters when reviewing an ejector retrofit for a CNC lathe.

Entry guidance remains part of the layout

Page 34 of botek’s catalogue shows pilot-hole guidance in its machining-centre example and a pilot hole or alternative guide bush in its lathe discussion. “No workpiece seal” consequently should not be read as “no guided entry.”

Define that entry feature on the actual component and installation drawing. The guidance location, approach and supplied workpiece must be the same ones used in the proposed route. A tool photograph does not resolve those relationships.

Review the available machine as an installation

Begin with the identified machine and its documented configuration. Put the workpiece, tool train, support arrangement, supply connection and discharge on one layout. Then identify which elements exist and which belong to the retrofit proposal.

An illustrative comparison of two lathes with enough nominal travel can still leave different loading, support and discharge questions. Travel alone is not a complete usable drilling envelope. Obtain a layout for the same blank and bore rather than inferring compatibility from the machine category.

The operating sequence must come from that installed arrangement’s documentation. A generic canned cycle or code fragment cannot establish the proper entry, rotation, fluid and withdrawal relationships for a particular connector and tool assembly.

Include the delivered result

Installation review ends at a defined component outcome. Keep first-article size, geometry and texture requirements with the route, including how the bore is reached for inspection. A running machine is a different endpoint from an accepted part.

Use the RFQ worksheet for the installation scope. Continue to the complete tooling assembly for interfaces and first-article inspection for delivery evidence.
