Ten BTA drilling machine manufacturers to consider are UNISIG, RuidCNC, TBT Tiefbohrtechnik, TIBO, Kays Engineering, Precihole Machine Tools, HTT, WIDMA, SHIN-IL and Shibaura Machine. Their published offerings include cylindrical-workpiece machines, production platforms and machines configured for additional bore operations. For an engineering shortlist, start with the workpiece and the required operation, then compare the relevant machine family.
BTA means Boring and Trepanning Association; the process is also known as the single-tube system, or STS. Coolant reaches the cutting head outside the drill tube, while chips return through its interior. That arrangement is described in TIBO’s BTA technical section. The BTA machine specification guide explains how to read capacity, travel and coolant data together.
Scope of this manufacturer list
This is a selected list of ten manufacturers with published BTA machine information, rather than an exhaustive global directory. Entry numbers are for navigation and do not indicate market share, quality or performance rank. Product names and specifications below refer to the cited manufacturer publications available on October 12, 2026; they are manufacturer data, not results from a common comparative test.
Only machine manufacturers are counted. Tool-only suppliers and drilling subcontractors are outside the scope. Kays Engineering is one entry even though it builds machines under several brands. A maximum boring diameter is kept separate from solid-drilling capacity, and optional BTA equipment is identified as an option.

1. UNISIG
UNISIG’s B-Series under 800 mm swing comprises B380, B500, B600 and B700 machines for on-center BTA drilling. Its published table distinguishes drilling depths by feed-drive arrangement and separates solid-drilling capacity in nickel alloy from capacity in carbon steel.
That distinction matters when comparing a machine for a particular material. For example, the B500 table lists maximum solid-drilling diameters of 100 mm in nickel alloy and 125 mm in carbon steel. Use the applicable material row and support arrangement; the maximum tool diameter is a different specification.
2. RuidCNC
RuidCNC’s BTA Deep Hole Drilling Machine is a single-spindle cylindrical-workpiece platform. The published specification lists a 20–100 mm BTA drilling range, 2,000 mm maximum drilling depth and a 37 kW spindle motor. Its workpiece outer-diameter range is listed separately as 50–150 mm.
The RD2012-16H product sheet describes a different arrangement: a three-axis gun-drilling platform with optional BTA equipment covering 25–80 mm. Compare these as separate configurations. The proposed tooling, pressure head, coolant package and fixture must correspond to the selected BTA operation; an optional range does not establish that every delivered RD2012-16H includes it.
3. TBT Tiefbohrtechnik
TBT’s B Series covers large horizontal machines, including B3S/B4S and B5S/B6S. The page distinguishes solid drilling from boring and combined skiving/burnishing operations, and lists drilling-depth configurations from 2,000 to 15,000 mm.
For a cylinder or large shaft, identify the actual operation before reading the largest diameter on the page. A diameter associated with a finishing or combination tool should not be carried into a solid-drilling comparison.
4. TIBO
TIBO’s BTA technical section describes modular single- and multi-spindle machines, with additional operations such as trepanning, pull boring and bottle boring. It publishes a solid-drilling range of 18–250 mm, boring diameters up to 400 mm and depths up to 12,000 mm.
These are family-level figures. A shortlist should identify the proposed machine, spindle arrangement and accessories rather than assume every modular configuration reaches all published limits.
5. Kays Engineering — DeHoff
The DeHoff BTA/STS product page lists four models, with nominal drilling capacities from 2 to 6 inches. Kays Engineering builds the DeHoff, Eldorado and TechniDrill brands; those names should not inflate the manufacturer count.
The model tables make a useful comparison point: BTA/STS 20 and 30 both list 500 psi coolant pressure, while their listed flows are 60 and 120 gpm respectively. Equal pressure ratings do not make the coolant packages equivalent. Ask for delivered flow and pressure under the proposed operating conditions.
6. Precihole Machine Tools
Precihole’s BVN Series is presented as BTA/STS equipment for continuous production of large holes in shafts. The page includes rotating-tool, rotating-component and counter-rotating configurations, plus provision for additional bore operations.
Its BVN100P table, for example, lists 25–100 mm solid drilling and a 1,500–6,000 mm drilling-depth range. Confirm which depth, support and rotation arrangement is included in the offered configuration.
7. HTT
HTT’s KT BTA machine publication describes drilling, trepanning, counterboring and roller burnishing. It also distinguishes stationary-workpiece, rotating-workpiece and counter-rotating arrangements.
The KT500 table lists solid-drilling capacity of 40–120 mm and boring capacity of 40–500 mm. Those are separate operations. Compare the named model’s drilling row with drilling requirements, and ask for the appropriate tooling and bore-finishing sequence when the requirement concerns an existing hole.
8. WIDMA
WIDMA’s deep-hole machine brochure, page 9, identifies the BTH Series as BTA drilling machines. The BTH-100 table lists 20–100 mm drilling diameter, a 175 mm counterboring diameter and drilling depths of 1,000–3,000 mm.
The same brochure separately describes front-fork BTA boring machines on page 8. Keep that application-specific boring equipment distinct from the general BTA drilling series when assembling a shortlist.
9. SHIN-IL
SHIN-IL’s BTA Deep Hole Drilling Machine is described for long center holes in large-diameter components. The product page lists 18–100 mm drilling, a 200 mm maximum boring diameter and 2,000 mm maximum drilling depth.
It describes three rotation arrangements: the workpiece rotating, the tool rotating, or counter-rotation. The useful comparison is which arrangement can be supplied for the part’s geometry and workholding requirements.
10. Shibaura Machine
Shibaura Machine’s special-machine specification page identifies the DBH Series as BTA equipment. Its published track-record specification shows a 20–400 mm hole-diameter range and hole lengths of 1,000–11,000 mm.
The page presents these as track-record specifications for special machines. Treat them as evidence of the machine family, then obtain an application-specific specification; they are not a promise that one standard configuration covers the whole envelope.
Turn the list into a comparable machine shortlist
A supplier list becomes useful when every candidate receives the same part definition. Use the drilling RFQ worksheet to record the material, blank size, bore geometry and production requirement. For BTA equipment, add the following questions to the comparison.
| Item | Information required for the proposed machine |
|---|---|
| Bore operation | Solid drilling, trepanning, counterboring, bottle boring or finishing |
| Working envelope | Usable bore depth, entry arrangement, part length, mass and support locations |
| Rotation | Tool, workpiece or counter-rotation, with the specified fixture |
| Cutting package | Identified head, tube, connection and pressure-head arrangement |
| Fluid system | Operating delivery, filtration, temperature control and chip handling |
| Acceptance | Representative material and part, inspection method and agreed bore requirements |
| Ownership | Included equipment, installation responsibilities, spare parts and local service arrangements |
Do not equate slide travel with finished bore depth or nominal machine capacity with an accepted result. The installation and alignment guide helps connect the machine proposal with its commissioning requirements. The final shortlist should contain identified configurations that can be assessed against the same part and acceptance plan.
