A deep hole drilling review can fail before the cutting conditions are debated. The drawing, calculated operation and measurement report may refer to different revisions, different hole sets or different feature coverage. These are concrete handover checks, not a frequency ranking of shop-floor failures.
A changed revision inherits an old result
An editorial example is a new bore depth in the drawing while the quoted route and inspection report still identify the previous revision. The required first step is to reconcile identities. A detailed report for the earlier feature does not establish the new feature’s result.
Retain drawing, part and bore identifiers across the route, program and report. Make the material condition and inspection stage explicit when the process includes heat treatment or a subsequent finishing operation.
CAM calculation omits a required location
The Fusion drilling reference describes collision handling that can skip a colliding hole or trim permitted motions. It also lists cycle restrictions on trimming. A completed calculation therefore deserves comparison with the required hole set, not only inspection of the locations that remain visible.
This is a documented feature of the named software. Whether it caused an actual incident requires the retained operation settings and emitted file. A toolpath screenshot alone may leave that evidence unresolved.
A local reading becomes a whole-path claim
Novacam’s straightness article describes evaluation from circular profiles and a denser spiral scan. The acquisition coverage is part of the result. An endpoint or local-diameter record should not silently become evidence of the complete internal path.
Review the actual feature, locations, reference and evaluation before accepting the report’s headline. The linked straightness article explains the distinction using assumed paths with matching endpoints.
Make the missing relationship visible
The drawing-to-report diagram below separates requirement, acquisition, evaluation and disposition. Use the quality worksheet to keep feature identity and measurement scope together. If the configuration is coherent but a defect remains, proceed to geometry diagnosis or programming troubleshooting with the relevant records, rather than assigning a checklist label as its cause.
